Microchips

Veterinary technician holding a chocolate Labrador puppy during a microchipping appointment in KingstonMicrochips are tiny devices about the size of a grain of rice. They are not tracking devices, but when scanned by an appropriate microchip reader, your pets' microchip number will display. If your pet gets lost, this allows veterinarians and shelters to look up the number and notify the company that you have registered the chip with so that they in turn can contact you to let you know your pet has been found! It is very important to keep your contact information up to date with the microchip registry so that you are reachable. Also if you had registered your pet with Save This Life, be sure to reregister your pet with another registry as they have gone out of business so won't be available to give out your information.

You can call our office to find out the chip number if you do not know it.
